AVIBA, the association of travel agencies of the Balearic Islands, has decided to share with the Mallorcan Association of Tourist Attractions (AMAT) the 13 point increase that VAT will experience in this sector of the complementary offer, whose tax will go from 8% to 21% On September 1.

The retailers of the Islands, chaired by Sylvia Riera, have shown solidarity with AMAT and, during the months of September and October, they will contribute money equivalent to a 6.5 point increase in VAT. The other half will be borne by the businessmen of the tourist attractions.

Antonio González, president of AMAT and director of the Palma Aquarium, has reproached the Government that “it cannot be said that the VAT of the tourism sector has not increased, it remains a reduced VAT in part, but in another part, very important, we have seen how We have an increase of 13%, which is strong,” reports Efe.
